Liver stages

The liver is silent by design.

It has almost no pain receptors in its tissue. You only feel “liver pain” when the outer capsule stretches - which means by the time it hurts, change has usually been underway for a while.
That’s why these stages 👉🏻 healthy → fatty liver (MASLD) → fibrosis → cirrhosis → cancer - are defined by structure, not by symptoms. The early stages are the reversible ones, and they’re also the quietest.
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine lens, the Liver (Gan) governs the smooth flow of Qi and blood - which is why patterns of stagnation, heat, or deficiency show up in sleep, digestion, mood, and cycle long before any structural change. The two systems describe different things; I find them most useful side by side, not collapsed into one.
What this post is not: a diagnosis, or a claim that any single modality reverses liver disease. If you have metabolic risk factors - insulin resistance, high triglycerides, central weight gain, alcohol use - the highest-value move is bloodwork and imaging with your physician. Structure is best seen, not felt.
